1. The service
Qpdf (qpdf.ca) provides free, browser-based tools for working with PDF files. The tools run on your device. No account is required, and the service may change, be suspended or be discontinued at any time.
2. Your documents and your responsibility
You keep full ownership of and responsibility for the files you process. You are responsible for checking every result before relying on it — particularly redactions, digital signatures, compressed copies of official documents, and files you submit to courts, tribunals, government agencies or other parties. Keep your original files.
3. Acceptable use
Use Qpdf only for lawful purposes. In particular, you must not:
- remove passwords or restrictions from documents you are not authorized to open or modify;
- use Qpdf to infringe copyright or other rights, or to forge or misrepresent documents or signatures;
- attempt to disrupt, overload or attack the website or its hosting infrastructure.
4. No professional advice
Qpdf’s tools and guides are general information, not legal, immigration, accounting or other professional advice. Requirements for document formats and sizes vary; always confirm them with the organization you are dealing with.
5. Open-source software
Qpdf is free software licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3, and includes components under other open-source licences. Your rights to copy, modify and redistribute the software are set out in those licences — see open-source licences. These terms do not limit any rights those licences grant you.
6. No warranty
Qpdf is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Qpdf does not warrant that the tools will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any output will be accurate or meet a particular standard.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Qpdf and its developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, documents, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service.
8. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. The effective date above shows when they last changed.
