About Rasterize PDF

Rasterizing renders each page to an image and rebuilds the PDF from those images. It flattens everything visible and removes the underlying text, vector objects and layers.

How to use it

  1. Select your PDF, or drag it onto the drop area.
  2. Choose the resolution.
  3. Rasterize and download.

Your file stays on your device

This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your file is read from your device, processed in memory, and saved back to your device — it is never uploaded to Qpdf or anyone else. The first time you use it, your browser downloads the PyMuPDF engine (software only, about 54 MB) from qpdf.ca and keeps it for offline use.

Good to know

  • Text will no longer be selectable or searchable, and the file is often larger. Keep your original.
  • Rasterizing is not a substitute for proper redaction review: check every page before sharing.
  • Downloads the PyMuPDF engine (about 54 MB) the first time you use it.
